nothing hurts me more than seeing someone discouraged from doing something they love. they give up hopes and dreams of all sizes based on the “you won’t make it”, “that doesn’t really seem to suit you”, “you realize how much work that takes right?” and “odds aren’t very good”. It seems that traditionally, our response to these phrases is to shy away from wherever this critic is going. but in reality, the only way to achieve what we want is to go into that grey zone where the odds aren’t very good. why would people shy you away from your dreams? i have no idea. maybe they can’t stand the idea of you having extreme success someday, or maybe they do not truly know that what they say impacts you. here’s my advice, don’t listen to them. you don’t have to be someone else’s version of you, be your version of you. if you aren’t your own self, who are you? are you a watered-down version of someone else? are you so programmed to follow all of societies rules to the t that you don’t leave room for your own interpretation of life? who are you? if you cannot say “i am me today”, i hope that one day you strive to say just that. for someone may say something judgmental, discouraging, or snarky about you doing the things that make you who you love but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get out there and do it. go for it, and be the best and purest version of yourself you can be. this is your life, and you get this cool opportunity to create, love, and inspire with it. and the best part? there is no rule book, your free to make your own choices and do whatever the H E double hockey sticks you want. seize the power to choose your own path. don’t let other people’s irrelevant opinions ruin your life, it’s called your life for a reason. be purely you.
