wow. it's still hasn't quite set in that i just explored europe for 16 days with some of my closest friends. sometimes it feels like i was never there and i just woke up from a really bomb dream. other moments it feels as if i haven't left and i'm expecting my cashier to speak french or german at that the gelato stand is just around the corner. now that i've finally realized i'm back home, i want to go back. europe was amazing. despite the language barriers i felt perfectly at home in these foreign cultures. there is no doubt in my mind that i will be back in europe relatively soon. there is still so much to do and see (and taste) in europe. maybe i'll travel abroad with my friends, study there, or maybe even move to europe. after i finish these last two years of high school, the world is mine to explore. if there is anything i've learned in these past 16 days is that rosé tastes like candy and dark beer needs a lemon. ahhh but on a serious note... i truly have learned that no matter what language you speak, what culture you come from or what your social standing is, a smile is universal. everyone understands a smile. a small flash of those pearly whites can go a long way. it can brighten a day or say hello in a thousand languages. in fact, to me a smile is a language of its own. a universal language that everyone is fluent in. below are a few more photos from countries i didn't cover in their own post. (switzerland, lichtenstein, austria, italy and germany) for even more cliché pictures go check my VSCO. to wrap up this post i want to thank two of my best friends for not killing me in these 16 days. thanks for listening to my ear piercing voice singing you lullabies in the hotel room, jamming to "i really miss my" at 2:30 am when we needed to be awake in an hour, helping me down the stairs in Paris, always tucking me in after long days of gelato and taking awful pictures of each other. to my new friends, IM SO HAPPY I MET EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. you all are incredibly special people and i'm so blessed to know you. i'm still surprised you talk to me after germany and the austria incidents that should remain unspoken about. (Abbey don't you dare) i love each and everyone of you with my whole heart and i'm so glad I got to share this special experience with you. so I'm going to stop here and leave you with this quick probably stupid "europe by the numbers" thing. until my next adventure, emily
