today, mother's day, is as good a day as any to step back and realize how grateful you are to have your mom, grandmother, mum, nana, madre, president of your fan club, momager, or any other woman who is a major influence in your life. to commemorate the holiday and showcase how blessed i am to have my mom in my life, here are 17 things i've learned from my mom in my 17 years of life. 1. god comes first in every aspect of your life.
2. you are not superior to anyone on this planet. 3. as long as you like who you are, nothing else matters. 4. eat the extra slice (pizza, cake, watermelon etc.). 5. never tell your siblings you hate them. 6. smile at the person standing next to you while you wait for coffee. 7. talk to strangers, ask them how their day was but never give your personal info. 8. a paper invite is much more meaningful than a text or facebook event. 9. when looking at those who seem to have it all (fancy cars, trendy clothes) remember that they are no happier than we are. 10. be the bigger person no matter how much it hurts. 11. recycling at home is a good way to start saving our planet. we only get one. 12. you don't need the shoes, but get them anyway. 13. never be afraid to ask for help. 14. nothing worth having in life comes without a dream, hard work, and maybe a few tears (sad or joyful). 15. wear your sunscreen. a burn isn't cute and cancer isn't fun. 16. make the most of any situation. 17. donate. offer up your time, resources, and spirit for the benefit of others. not only does it give you a sense of belonging but it also aids your brothers and sisters in christ.
